<p>Ruth Levine and William Sacedoff are correct and I am grateful to them for drawing attention to my mistake. The quotation is indeed from Cotter and I have made the correction.</p>

Your blog has an important error that needs to be corrected. The quotation that you attribute to Sachs is actually a quotation from Cotter.

Thanks for the useful pointer to a valuable opinion piece about the need for more rigorous evaluation of development programs. This is something we at the Center for Global Development have been advocating, and there is important movement forward in the past two years, including through commitments to establish a dedicated pool of new funding for impact evaluation. One correction, though: I looked at the original piece in the Chronicle of Philanthropy and it is William Cotter, not Jeff Sachs in this case, who is pushing for better evaluation. The quote is from Cotter.

Until this blog is made public there is only a small chance of comments. So strange as it may seem I am commenting on my own post. More about Adrienne Shelly in today's London Observer newspaper: http://film.guardian.co.uk/features/featurepages/0,,2126602,00.html
